Draco Grills' Teak Outdoor Kitchens are made entirely out of reclaimed Teak. It is essentially maintenance free due to its high concentration of natural oils and minerals, which make it resistant to water, rot, insect infestation, fungal decay or mildew. If you take good care of your Teak kitchen, it will survive for many years. Teak is a natural material, therefore variations in colour, grain and other natural characteristics are to be expected, especially when using 100% reclaimed Teak. When your Teak units arrive, they may be covered in surface oil. This is normal, and any residue will be eliminated within 7-10 days as your units settle into their new environment. It is important to understand that all timber components will age to the same silver-grey patina inherent that Teak does. The natural golden appearance can be maintained by applying Teak treatments from the top to prevent the timber from decaying naturally. The British climate is unpredictable, thus cracks will appear on occasion, particularly on the end grain. These cracks (opening and closing of the grain) can be caused by abrupt changes in air humidity and temperature, especially during the summer months. This is completely normal and should not have any negative impact on the strength or durability of your kitchen units. We recommend that all moving parts and fittings be lubricated and tightened before use. Please keep in mind that brass-ware might tarnish if left out in the open.
