Australian alt-rock band WAXFLOWER's debut album "We Might Be Alright" is a rollercoaster of emotions, like a Tinder date gone wrong at a theme park. The band's blend of shimmering guitars, punchy drums, and frontman Tristan Higginson's introspective lyrics make for a compelling listen that will have you dancing one minute and crying into your pillow the next. Tracks like "Getting Better" and "Again" showcase WAXFLOWER's knack for crafting infectious hooks and anthemic choruses that will be stuck in your head for days. The band's sound is reminiscent of early 2000s emo bands, with a modern twist that sets them apart from their peers in the genre. However, the album does have its missteps. The production at times feels a bit too polished, stripping away some of the raw emotion that the band is clearly capable of delivering. And while Higginson's vocals are undeniably powerful, there are moments where his delivery feels a bit forced, lacking the authenticity that is necessary to truly connect with the listener. Overall, "We Might Be Alright" is a promising debut from WAXFLOWER that showcases the band's potential to make waves in the alt-rock scene. With a bit more polish and a lot more heart, they could very well be on their way to greatness.
