Are we being punk'd? Has someone really slipped us a Nickelback album in disguise? It's hard to believe that a band with such a cringe-worthy reputation can still find themselves releasing new music in 2021. But alas, here we are, with Nickelback's latest offering, "Get Rollin". From the very first note, it's clear that Nickelback haven't strayed far from their tried and tested formula of generic rock anthems and cheesy lyrics. The album is full of predictable guitar riffs, clichéd choruses, and Chad Kroeger's signature gravelly vocals. It's like we've been transported back to the early 2000s – and not in a good way. Tracks like "Rockstar 2.0" and "Here We Go Again" feel like carbon copies of Nickelback's previous hits, with little to no innovation or originality. It's as if the band have just gone through the motions, churning out the same tired old tropes without a care in the world. But let's give credit where credit is due – there are a few moments on "Get Rollin" that show glimpses of potential. The title track, for example, has a catchy melody and a driving rhythm that almost make you forget you're listening to Nickelback. Almost. In the end, "Get Rollin" is exactly what you'd expect from a Nickelback album – safe, formulaic, and completely forgettable. If you're a die-hard fan of the band, you'll probably find something to enjoy here. But for the rest of us, it's just another reminder of why Nickelback are the butt of so many jokes in the music industry.
