OVERKILL's "Under The Influence" is like getting hit in the face with a sledgehammer made of heavy metal. From the moment the opening track "Shred" kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride. The guitar riffs are more infectious than a zombie virus, and the drums hit harder than my grandma after one too many shandies. Vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth sounds like he's been gargling gravel and whiskey for breakfast, but in the best possible way. His raw, aggressive delivery adds an extra layer of intensity to an already explosive album. Tracks like "Hello From the Gutter" and "Never Say Never" showcase the band's trademark thrash sound, while "In Union We Stand" adds a touch of anthemic bravado to the mix. The production is as slick as a greased weasel, courtesy of Terry Date, who manages to capture the band's live energy without sacrificing any of their ferocity. Overall, "Under The Influence" is a relentless onslaught of bone-crunching riffs and ear-splitting solos that will leave you headbanging until your neck gives out. If you're a fan of old-school thrash metal, this album is an absolute must-listen. Just make sure you stretch your neck muscles first.
