KINGS OF LEON's latest album "Walls" has got us asking the age-old question, where's the energy? This is a band known for their raw, gritty sound, but on this album, it feels like they've gone a bit soft around the edges. It's like they've swapped their leather jackets for cardigans and traded in their guitars for ukuleles. The album starts off with the track "Waste a Moment," which is catchy enough, but it lacks that punch we've come to expect from KINGS OF LEON. And don't get us started on the 80s-inspired ballad "Reverend" - it's like they've stumbled into a time warp and landed in a John Hughes movie. But it's not all bad news. There are moments on the album where the band's talent shines through, like on the hauntingly beautiful "Walls" and the infectious "Around the World." These tracks remind us why we fell in love with KINGS OF LEON in the first place. Overall, "Walls" is a mixed bag. It feels like the band is trying to evolve their sound, but in doing so, they've lost some of the magic that made them so captivating in the first place. Will fans embrace this new direction? Only time will tell.
