The debut solo album from Ashley Parker Angel, "Soundtrack To Your Life," is a mixed bag of pop-rock anthems and ballads that never quite hits the mark. Angel, formerly of boyband O-Town, tries to break away from his past and establish himself as a serious solo artist with this album. However, the result feels like a confused mishmash of cliché lyrics and uninspired melodies. Tracks like "Let U Go" and "I'm Better" showcase Angel's smooth vocals, but the generic production and lacklustre songwriting leave much to be desired. It's as if Angel is trying too hard to please everyone, instead of carving out a unique sound for himself. The album's title track, "Soundtrack To Your Life," is perhaps the most cringe-worthy moment, with its cheesy lyrics and overproduced sound. It's a shame, as Angel clearly has talent, but it gets lost in the sea of forgettable tracks on this album. Overall, "Soundtrack To Your Life" falls flat, failing to leave a lasting impression. It's a shame, as Ashley Parker Angel has the potential to create something truly special, but this album misses the mark. Here's hoping he finds his footing on his next musical venture.
