Album Review: TOTO - Old Is New In the grand tradition of bands reuniting for one last hurrah, TOTO has emerged from the depths of nostalgia with their latest offering, Old Is New. A collection of old classics reimagined and a few shiny new tracks thrown in for good measure, this album is a testament to the enduring power of 80s hair rock. From the opening chords of "Devil's Tower" to the poignant ballad "Spanish Sea," TOTO proves that age is just a number when it comes to rocking out. Lead vocalist Joseph Williams still has the pipes to hit those high notes, and the band's signature harmonies are as tight as ever. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows here. Some of the newer tracks feel a bit forced, as if the band is trying too hard to recapture their former glory. "Alone" and "Chelsea" lack the infectious energy of their older hits, and it's hard not to feel a twinge of disappointment. That being said, there are still plenty of moments to enjoy on Old Is New. "Struck By Lightning" is a raucous romp that will have you tapping your foot in no time, while "In A Little While" showcases the band's softer side with its gentle acoustic guitar. Overall, TOTO's Old Is New is a solid addition to their discography, even if it doesn't quite reach the heights of their classic albums. Fans of the band will find plenty to love here, but newcomers may want to start with their earlier work. Either way, it's worth a listen for a trip down memory lane.
